That's why we can revel in everything we learn about Pluto and anything else out there. It's not just knowledge to help the furtherment and the survival of our species, but it's also celebration of all the other specks, a common bond in our combined existence as specks. This is why space is so grand and glorious - it's not necessarily the vast open nothingness that we revel in, although that's pretty cool, too - it's anything we learn and find and can say to, alive or not, hello, nice to meet you.

That said, imagine how cool it would have been to see New Horizons get shot down by an alien laser from the peak of those ice mountains and how petrified we'd all be right now
