Every public school should offer to teach students the spoons instead of the recorder if they require them to learn an instrument, by the way. I remember playing "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing In Perfect Harmony" and "Lean On Me" on the recorder back in 4th grade, and what a waste of a skill that was. I would still play the spoons regularly if they'd taught me how to do that! Alas. I'd also probably be sent away from the dinner table for misbehavior more often.
