Lesson #302 - Guilty Pleasures
There are pleasures. There are guilty pleasures. Then there is the Real World/Road Rules Challenge.
For those outside the U.S. or unaware of this show, imagine people who were on a reality show in their early twenties, who periodically get called back to participate in another reality show with a potential cash prize at the end. Now, these people have not been on that original show in years, and some are almost in their forties. They are still apparently able to drop their lives at a moment's notice for a couple months each year to participate. The money amount is relatively small compared to the amount of time they invest. They treat the show like it's one of the greatest things they will ever do in their lives. And they are HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE PEOPLE.
There is nothing to like about any of them, and they actually make you feel more wretched about the rest of humanity every time you watch.
And yet, we can't turn away, because they make us feel so much better about ourselves.
