Lesson #944 - Understanding Art

Every time I visit a modern art museum, I just don't get it. For example, in Iceland, one display had empty beer bottles lined up along the wall, with a pile of laundry in the middle of the room. Now, I could go through a whole variety of guesses, trying to decipher the artist's intent, but when I could easily travel back in time and witness such a display in my room during college, it's hard to figure what is art and what isn't.

This general confusion ties into this great equation about modern art; I tried to go in a different route and strip modern art down to its essential ingredients. Both equations are true, though, I think!
